Busy Barber Farm is the revival of a family legacy - one that skipped a generation but never truly disappeared. My grandfather farmed heritage Ayrshire cattle under the name Busy Bee Farm. His approach to farming was simple: respect the land, care for the animals, and feed the community with honesty and pride. I grew up working seasonally on farms, absorbing those same values even though our family didn't farm full time for a while. Then came 2020, a year that reshaped how many of us think about food security, sustainability, and community. Our family made a decision: it was time to return to our roots and become an active part of feeding people again. We built Busy Barber Farm with a mission grounded in heritage and guided by purpose. We chose a new name - not because we wanted to leave the past behind, but because we didn't want customers showing up looking for honey. The "Busy" in our name is a nod to my grandfather's farm, and the "Barber" reflects the family carrying the legacy forward. Today, we raise heritage breeds of pigs, along with turkeys and chickens, using humane, sustainable practices. Our animals live well, with space, fresh air, and respect. We believe deeply in ethical farming, and we stand by a simple philosophy: The animals on our farm only have one bad day. By selling directly to customers, we reduce food waste, minimize the environmental impact of large scale shipping, and ensure families know exactly where their food comes from. No middlemen.
